Text Connect (Beta)

Learnosity Text Connect is a new product in the Learnosity Voice family.

Learnosity TalkBack

Text Connect is currently in a development state known as ‘Beta’ which means we’re not quite ready yet to release it as a large scale product.

We want you to know about the new products we’re working on and you may like to tell us if you’re interested in knowing when we’re ready to release them.

Learnosity Text Connect (Beta) is designed to bring students together in the classroom or across the globe using our Link up Programme using our custom built text chat application.

Learnosity Text Connect is a powerful learning tool that:
Uses technology already familiar to the student so there is no learning curve to get started.
Brings learning to life through relevant conversation topics and stimuli.
Improves language skills and enables autonomous learning.

How does it work?

  • Using a computer students connect over the Internet to the Learnosity Text Connect website.
  • They enter their student id and PIN.
  • The system will recognise them and match them up according to the rules set earlier by the teacher.
  • Both students are shown the chat topic; this might be a YouTube clip for discussion, a voice recording or an image.
  • The conversation starts!

The powerful language learning tool can be used in 3 ways:

Match two students who are learning the same language.

Students at the same level are matched.  This is ideal for language practice with no teacher intervention needed.  As all conversation is recorded the teacher can review the conversation afterwards and give feedback to each student.

Match two students learning different languages.

For example, one native English speaker who is learning Chinese, and one native Chinese speaker who is learning English.  The two can communicate in both languages and teach each other.  This matching is facilitated using our Link up Programme.

Match a student with a teacher for a one-to-one text chat lesson.

For certain students that need one-to-one attention the teacher can take part in conversations with multiple students at the same time.

What does it look like?

This is how Learnosity Text Connect looks for students on the computer.

The teacher is shown a transcript of what was discussed during the session:
